Dustin is an Expert 5 (Black Belt) level certified instructor in Krav Maga—one of four Black Belt level instructors in Canada. He also holds a Black Belt in Matsu Bayashi Shorin Ryu Karate, which he earned in 2006 after attending a training trip to Japan with the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (DNBK). Dustin also has experience in other disciplines such as Boxing, Kick Boxing, Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Capoeira, just to name a few.
Dustin took over as Head Instructor and owner of Krav Maga Waterloo in February of 2020, after 18 years of being with the company. His commitment to the Krav Maga Waterloo has even deeper roots, having basically grown up there after starting in the kid’s program at the age of 12. Quickly, Dustin excelled in his training, attending every day, and completing every seminar and special training that was available to him.
Later, Dustin achieved extremely high marks in his Krav Maga Instructor training, which is especially impressive as he was one of the youngest instructors ever to complete these certifications.
Dustin has completed his full Instructor certification after passing Phase C in October 2011. His Expert 1 level certification course was completed in January 2013 and Expert 2 level certification in July 2014. On August 26th, 2018, Dustin earned his Expert 5 (Black Belt) level certification among fifteen other candidates from across the United States and Europe.
Dustin has worked with the KW Spinners Wheelchair athletes on Self Defense and Martial Arts skills since 2006. In addition to teaching his group classes, Dustin also enjoys working one-on-one with students to help them to achieve their training goals.
